Crytek has announced a smart, new VR initiative called VR FIRST, which will provide a ready-made solution for VR developers, students and researchers who want to implement VR labs in their businesses and institutions. Crytek is positioning to be a leader in VR development and the new program was created to jump start VR development in companies, schools and laboratories by giving them the opportunity to establish a “ready made” VR Lab solution which includes access to Crytek’s Cryengine gaming engine, state of the art VR headgear devices and PCs.

According to Crytek:

“VR First is a new initiative designed to provide state-of-the-art facilities to anyone interested in exploring the power and potential of virtual reality development. The program encourages academic institutions around the world to establish dedicated VR labs on their campuses. Crytek is providing full source code access to CRYENGINE development software for free, while hardware partners will equip the labs with VR headsets and machines. VR First locations will become key centers for nurturing new talent in VR development and creating a global community equipped to embrace this exciting field of technology.”

According to Digital Trends, Crytek launched a VR First pilot program at Bahçesehir University in Turkey on Jan 19, 2016.
