We’ve heard the rumors in March from Mark Zuckerberg that it was in the works but today, facebook made it official. Starting now, facebook supports 360 videos that work directly in their news feed. Currently the videos only work on Android and web, with iOS support to be released in the coming months.

There are a number of publishers with 360 videos live on the site, including Discovery, GoPro, LeBron James & Uninterrupted, NBC’s Saturday Night Live, VICE, as well as this super cool Star Wars Episode VII: Force Awakens desert speeder scene.

There are many more publishers and content creators who are set to release their videos in the coming days. If you are a content creator, you can learn more about all the details for uploading your own content via the Facebook blog.

Interestingly this announcement coincides with the annual Oculus Connect 2 conferences being held this week in Hollywood California. We will stay on top of it and post more as news comes out.
