The AR/VR development company INSCALE has announced the launch of the Fuel Cell 360 augmented reality app. Created in partnership with Hyundai Europe and GoPro, the app is a branded campaign for the Bergen to Bolzano European Road Trip, a promotional tour featuring the Hyundai ix35 Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicle.

Starting Saturday June 11, 2016, the INSCALE 360° Team will be traveling along with Hyundai on a five day, five country, 2500 kilometer road trip from Bergen Norway to Bolzano Italy with Zero emissions to promote this innovative, fuel cell, electric vehicle. The vehicle will be fitted with a couple GoPro 360° camera rigs and will be filming 360° video content of their journey.

Currently the app only shows a countdown until the start of the promotion on Saturday, but it promises an interesting combination of features, including augmented reality, 360 videos, a 3D 360 view of the ix35 vehicle and a card game. They are also promising some surprises along the way including some branded Google Cardboard VR viewers which they will be passing out along the way to the press.

The app is an interesting, multi featured promo idea for the automotive industry because it is one of the first apps that offers location based, real-time augmented reality, 360 video content all in one. According to INSCALE, the app can display different content that can be pushed to the app, depending on the location. We will be posting more content about the app as it is rolled out so stay tuned!

You can download the Fuel Cell 360 app now ( iTunes and the Google Play Store) and follow along on the trip.
